Close Otter. LA will eventually pass SF headed north. May take a while at a couple of inches per year average though.
I think more concern should be given to the Hayward Fault line...
The Hayward Fault—Is It Due for a Repeat of the Powerful 1868 Earthquake?
And also the New Madrid fault line.

When it's going to happen is problematic. But I'll bet a beer that it happens in the next couple of centuries. So lets see.... on the Hayward Fault, to mitigate damages...
Last I checked that fault ran through the UC Berkley Stadium, Within a couple of blocks of (if not under) 2 or 3 Hospitals. Same with other emergency service providers (police and fire). That stuff could be relocated away from the fault. Then stop building on top of it. Turn that thing into a 50 mile long urban trail and skate park.
Of course we all know intelligence and urban planning are mutually exclusive....MagnumaMoose, Feedman, otterinthewater and 1 other person Thank this. -
