I just read an article in freight waves, that claimed an E-mail from a major food shipper, to their carriers, or something like that.said that all the contracts are no longer any good, and that everyone is going to have to start meeting spot market rates, or some such nonsense..

I think they'd get sued over that..breach of contract.

That's an expensive tire. I thought you got a better discount than that on Michelin. But you did get good mileage out of them.

Nah, I'm sure it's in the contract that either party can break it for certain reasons. No big company is going to do anything like this if it will cost them more money. They're smarter than that.

For service related issues...but just because the customer doesn't want to pay what they agreed to in writing and signed isn't valid...

I'm pretty sure the article he's referring to on freight waves website is the article called , "Where is my Freight?"

Yeap. I've been extremely impressed with Michelins. My steers went for 224k, and had 6-7/32 left.

I was a little surprised when Mpact quoted the price. Petro walk in prices was over $600 and that didn't include mounting or stems. My steers were around $400 if I remember correctly.
Tire cost is fairly minuscule...for me its about 1 cent per mile.

You don't know what's in the contract. It may be in there that both parties can cancel and renegotiate if the market swings in either direction. I wouldn't expect to find it in the contract but you never know. I do know quite a few years ago Walmart came to the company I drove for and said they weren't paying the fuel surcharge anymore and the company told them they weren't going to haul their freight anymore. We were Walmarts biggest produce carrier at the time. Not everything is always black and white.

Amazon pulled the contractual rug out from underneath XPO within the last year or so. Cost XPO around $600,000,000 in revenue.
