My metal, and I'm not a purist by any stretch of the imagination, is heavily rhythm driven (I can play bass).... I love poly-rhythms, beats laden over beats & solid breakdowns - something that makes you want to move.

Stampin' Ground - poly-rhythmic intro, slow, but so friggin' heavy:



Toothgrinder... An admixture of styles, but the guitar in this tune, and the ferocity of the vocal delivery... It feels hard to miss the point:



...... What I'm saying, and agreeing to is that - there are way more talented musicians out there. Bands that surpass Metallica 10,000 times in skill & prowess... But no one will ever hear them because they aren't musically driven.... or they're lazy..... Music is generally a passive experience, after all. People consume it, they don't usually create it.... And the hive says 'this crap is popular' so it becomes a Top 40 Hit....
