Still Drop and hook at Tropicana? Always had to DH to Bradenton to get out of Florida. Most loads went to California or Dallas.
I am also Miami native. Stevens was the only one hiring out of Miami at the time. Werner and Covenant are the other two. I am strarting from scratch again, therefore I will have to work for who ever is hiring. The refresher school I am going to in October says Covenant is nearly 100%
a sure thing. Hopefully previous experience with the the refresher program will give me more options.

I had a good trainer. But was not so fortunate with my rookie team partner which isthe second part of training. He had two accidents both in Lousiana. It was not a fun time.
Once Solo, everything got easier. -
They do not do the teaming of students any more. Your secound training stint is done with a finishing trainer whose job is to make sure the first trainer did their job. For that 3-4 weeks you run the truck and the trainer basically observes. You can still get any advice or help from them you may need. Their main job is to make sure it is safe to turn you loose in your own truck.

luni Thanks this.

..yeah, sounds a lot safer too.. just curious Fozzy, how did u get accepted for training out of Davenport, is that in their hiring area? When i was living in Lincoln, NE & called them they told me i wasn't in their hiring area?? Is Davenport near one of their terminals; plus you drove all the way to Dallas for training, Lincoln is even closer than Davenport?

Fozzybear,
How was the physical with Stevens? As well how much drivetime are you getting? I'm starting in Dallas next Monday -
-
If you are starting next Monday, that means you are going to be in Terrys class. Lucky you. Make sure you tell him how happy you are to be training at Stevenson Transportation. He loves it when students call the company by that name.
Don't really do that, he tends to get a little excited about that one. -
Put my app in today online. Hope to start soon. Havent heard anything today. Anybody know about long it takes before they respond?

Today was test day at DPS. I was third. Pucker factor was off the scale. The examiner had me talk my way through the air brake tests, I did fine on that. Then she told me to do a straight line back followed by setting up and parallell parking. This also went well after I reset from a back that I got off line towards the curb then did the exact wrong thing. Pulled forward and started over. I thought I blew it there, but I guess I got points for realizing I goofed and fixing it.
Then she climbed into the truck and I forgot how to drive the truck! My attention span became about 3 seconds. I did not hit any curbs, but I did blow a few shifts, and once she told me to take a right and I flipped on my left signal. She told me right again, so I made the right, with my left signal on.
If you test at Dallas east, do not let the first right turn scare you. It's a cut away, but as long as you follow the setup they teach you, it is no problem. I made it through my turns all fine, but my shifting went all to hell.
Long story short, (too late), I passed!!!!
We had Monday off due to the Holiday, so we are having to put in extra driving time in week three to make up for the driving time. Tomorrow and Thursday we are driving until 10:00 pm.
