I was there today. From I-55 I took US-67 south, MO-47 west. yeah I saw the weight limit sign. :) from Buckman I took Mo-47 west, then MO-21 south and then Mo-8 west. My gross was 43k lb and it was hard to drive on MO-8. I had 16 totes off chemical in my dry van and it was moving my trailer left and right at curves. And like you said there were many tourists on MO-8 . I saw the river.
I really don't understand why they have that plant there? in the middle of nowhere.

I guess I wondered why it was there the first couple times I went, too, but now I just go there without thinking about it lol. It really is in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing else around. Maybe so they don't affect anyone if there's an accident?

That trip down MO-8 is one you won't forget. I'm not sure if totes in a dry van would be better or worse than doing it in a tanker. I will say that it isn't really a proper truck road. The scenery is nice, though.

Well back to reality. I've been on vacation from the 20th, flying home today. I'm leaving out tomorrow, but in ready to get back to work. I had a bunch of work done to my truck while I was gone. Bumper painted, New wheels, added cab/sleeper lights, new Quincy and some mechanical work done.

Got the lights installed under the cab & sleeper, New wheels on the rear and front bumper painted. Although they ran out of time to paint the corners, so I ordered new black ones. Freightliner's version of black and my version of black are very different.

Grrrrrr. I make money over the weekend, get In the yard Monday late. Cool. I ask for a load. I get tuesday 2300 pu in Texas City, tx. I get there I don't have the special pu number. Make a call, night dispatcher doesn't have anyone answer him to get the Pu number., get pushed off shippers lot, no parking at the truck stops. But a Canadian reefer guy gets out of his truck and tells me I can get his spot in 20 minutes. Now, i have
the Pu number, new appointment time is 2350 tonight.

Since coming back from a week off, I've done a few out and backs (basically) from St. Louis to Michigan, Louisville, eastern PA, and Pineville, LA. Sitting in Shreveport now, load tomorrow going to eastern Kentucky, then back to St. Louis first part of next week. Running recaps the whole time, though I've had a couple of 24-hour breaks. Some really short days like today, some really long days like driving 10 hours and 57 minutes yesterday to get to the plant on time.

A good friend of mine retired the week I was on vacation. If I could afford to, I would retire tomorrow lol. But I probably have another eight years to go at least.
