Many DMV's and schools don't know what is really allowed by federal law. I'll bet no one at Swift knows this rule and explanation....

The DMV here in CA told me I had to take a behind the wheel test to get my tanker endorsement. After 30 minutes of arguing with the lady behind the desk, the manager, and a bunch of phone calls on their end and my end, they finally realized they were idiots.

That is good information you posted, but that regulation was enacted in october 2016, and clarified in august 2017. Considering how far behind the CA DMVs are with everything, I would expect them to be compliant with this regulation no earlier than 2050. Just in time for trucks to drive themselves and manual operation of automobiles being made illegal.

The good news for you is, Swift has a CDL school in CA now. They run it out of the old Fontana terminal. So you shouldn't have any issue with out of state stuff.

 

No but there's a new terminal a couple miles away in jurupa valley.
