None of our shippers use CB radios. One claims they do but I’ve never gotten any response when I called them.

I use mine mostly in bad weather or bad traffic. I generally leave it on with the squelch up enough to quiet it, but if there’s a lot of yammering going on I’ll turn it off.

It has paid for itself a couple of times, though, when I was able to detour around accidents while drivers not paying attention to warnings got stuck. I also figure that I don’t want to be one of those guys who powers into stopped traffic in a snowstorm...

    faux_maestro and dennisroc Thank this.

This is the complete list. Fuel card, med card, and license are in wallet.

As the miles add up, you will know what is needed, what's not( I would definitely wait on buying anything costing hundreds of dollars...).

Two cheap Walmart sleeping bags that when zippered together create a huge envelope were probably my best idea so far.

You forgot to include your tampons! :)

Seriously.... Been asked about CB for shipper or receiver. They'd settle on using cell phone.
Did come in handy when in a traffic jam. Needed to find a loop and truck stop in that town. Was running out of time.

This company (see link below) makes the best duffle bag I have ever seen. They are made with truck drivers needs in mind. Yes they are expensive, especially with shipping from Austrailia... But they are worth every penny. I got the Version 4 and Toiletry Bag, just as soon as they started offering shipping to the USA. I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially Profesional Drivers.

    #### trucking has got complicated. Where I truck it is possible to get hung up in a blow ant not be able to move for 5 or 6 days, and no way am I going to fill the truck up with a whole bunch of junk. lol
I do carry toilet paper, extra water, a way to make coffee, and some snacks artic gear and a good bag.
Quite a few tools and some extra parts.
Just a hint, keep your toilet paper in a zip lock.
When I ran the big roads down south, I didn't have to carry all this stuff, but did still carry toilet paper and add an atlas for down there, I never used a gps.
radios were mandatory in both places and an important tool as far as I am concerned. Important enough that if it quits for any reason, it was replaced that day, they sold them everywhere.
My clothes, boots etc hung in the closet or in the cabinets, just needed a dirty clothes bag and a shower bag big enough to hold my toiletries and one change of cloths. It wasn't like I kept my complete wardrobe in the truck.
My suggestion is travel pretty light while you run with a trainer, then pile all the junk in when you are assigned a truck, if you think you need it.

Garmin GPS must be more durable. Mine stays on, in the windshield 24/7 and it's 5yrs old or more.

If you're bringing peanut butter, do you also need a dog? (asking for a friend)
