@buddyd157 You are completely right about all that f that :-( The lack of respect most drivers have for truck drivers makes me sick. On my way to work today a semi needed in the middle lane (where I was) because he wasn’t taking the toll road. I slowed down so he could get over. At least 3 cars pulled into the space I made for him, so I just kept slowing down more until he could get over. I also used to work in retail and people at work would complain about trucks. I told them if truck drivers didn’t drive those trucks you wouldn’t have a job or be able to get stuff you want! They usually shut up after that lol

This is why I’m glad I taught my children to always respect truck drivers! My dad drove for over 20. Nearly 20 with Walmart alone. I know how hard he worked because I went with him; so did most of my kids. I know why he retired (other people’s driving. And he did not mean other trucks.) As well as traffic in general.

In the 80’s when I started, nobody would let you near a semi until you did two years straight truck (body job, no trailer) doing city P&D.
Then you worked your way up to a single axle day cab with a pup doing same work and occasionally do a switch in the evening half way between terminals of another city. Then up to tractor trailer highway truck.
So by the time I actually got to go onto the big highway I had already been in the industry for three or four years.
Doing all of that city P&D work, you got really good at backing up.
