I think my dad told me now the biggest is in Japan, unless that’s changed. There used to be some Howard Johnson’s in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma but not sure exactly where. Smh: you’re talking about them originating in Illinois, aren’t you..... I’m sleepy lol

Last Howard Johnson I seen was on rt 41 in Hokesson DE (I'm pretty sure I spelled that wrong). It's been a few years since I been up that way so I don't know if it's still there.

The Subway is in the McDonald’s or in the station? The McDonald’s building I mean.

Are you referring to the HoJo’s at the base of the Delaware Memorial Bridge?

I don’t remember there ever being a HoJo’s on rt 41 in De.

  6. it's right there in the building when you come in ever since they remodeled it there's a Kum & Go gas station on the ground level with the bathrooms which is basically the equivalency of say a 7-Eleven or something like that..
you go upstairs to where the McDonald's is it's kind of sliced in half now there's a gift store Route 66 travel store I'll Route 66 kind of memorabilia because it sits along the original Route 66 and then there's a Subway right there too same basically walkway or corridor...

  7. Hojos were everywhere on the East Coast..
but Illinois when they first built the toll road there service plazas actually they've always called him the oasis's were Howard Johnson's originally with full service restaurants..
I found a nice old Howard Johnson's Restaurant right off of i-85 and 321 in Gastonia it's a pancake house..
still the original building is it was in 1966 when the hotel was built as a Howard Johnson's motor Lodge has it been that for years but you can look here here and Seeley see although the steeple no longer is Orange it's more of a teal color it's definitely a hojo back in the day and it's still standing and it's still open every day..you walk in though it doesn't look super fancy it's just an old poggio restaurant for the Howard Johnson's motor Lodge it's rundown still has the classic 70s faux wood paneling.. 20190427_074754.jpg 20190427_074711.jpg 20190427_074711.jpg

  9. no not originating in Illinois won the Illinois toll road was built back in the late sixties and early seventies that's the only place on the toll roads where they were found in the actual service plazas or oasis's is Illinois likes to call them.
what I was saying was Howard Johnson's were the only food found on the Illinois toll road back in the day

I think it’s been about 7 years since I’ve been there. We go to Arkansas from Oklahoma all the time. Used to be I rarely went to Missouri from Oklahoma.
