So someone else's apathy helped save a Uhaul. You should thank him really.

Been meaning to ask - while we is on the subject.

    1995 379, 12.7.

Cruise control works, but bump idle/raise idle does not.

Fernando did the ECM, assures me the function is active in the ECM.

Where to start looking for what is preventing the function from working?

Clutch switch works, TPS good, - is there a sensor on the aluminum manifold behind the pedals that could be faulty?

    (Manifold block below)

Note in picture the orange ‘opti-idle’ light - no idea what it was for.

    I don’t often idle, but when I do, . . .

    (Insert meme of your choice)

    Thanks for any pointers.

Probably redundant, but have you tried holding the set/resume switch either direction for a few seconds? Both with cruise switch on and off? I don't know anything about Detroit ECM's, but maybe it's hiding behine a PTO enable setting?

I’ve fooled with it 6 ways and on Sundays. But I’ll try it again in the ‘off’ position.

I’m not familiar with the Opt Idle deal, and wonder if removed wiring is tripping it up.

My only thought is a sensor connected to the tractor brakes - ?

    Blair,

Not a Detroit guy but, no high idle sounds like maybe a RPM issue like cam or crank position sensor?

The other one would be the clutch switch?
