Thank you. I did misstate. The truck is not more subject to a search than a common 4-wheeler even though it is a commercial vehicle. However, like a 4-wheeler, if something suggestive of a crime is in plain view by the cop THAT will give him cause for further search and driver consent is not required.

The us border patrol at the border or within 100 miles of an international border does not need pc or warrant. This is the law, people don't seem to think it is not possible but they have the law backing them with a few court cases affirming it.
Despite denials from local cops, the border patrol is used here to search vehicles when they can't and have been for a while. -

Back when nobody cared about radar detectors, they were always verbotten in Virginia and confiscated.
Long before the FCMSA took it up.
