Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

I would tend to agree normally, but the growing trend with corporate with regard to their decisions that negatively affect drivers are almost always rooted in “Freight 2020” and “Capital expenditures in TNT Express”.
Those two excuses seem to be the most commonly used when they release bad information internally or to the public. Listen to the last several earning reports that FX released.

Fred Smith is also recently on record as almost being in awe of Old Dominion.

 

I started out local in a private fleet for a company I already worked for. They needed another driver, I volunteered, and off I went to driving school. The only sleeper truck I've ever been in was a loaner when my truck spent a week in the shop.

 

We are super short handed so I would like to come in a Friday to work a 6th day and help out but I just know I'm really not gonna feel like it lol.

 

Guess it depends on the company. The only time I've really ever had to do that was with some fresh new guys and I got paid for my trouble.

Around here the slower guys just tend toward the easier bids. The guys with some hustle go for the big bids if they have the seniority for it.

 

I've noticed it is often the case that the lower parts of the pay scale progression have smaller raises. What did your top scale increase by?

 

In MA, we’ve been running our gonads off all summer long since the beginning of the new fiscal year.

Midwest here, seems to be a pretty normal volume. My terminal hasn’t been keeping anyone home, but we’re not adding runs either. Occasionally a run gets canceled, but that driver just gets bumped down to the very short hub shuttle bid with 5+ hours of dockwork in the middle.

I loaded a bill labeled as foodstuffs with 10 skids onto an outbound trailer at the hub, and when I went to put the bill in the slot I saw there was one already in there with poison... I had some words for the dock sup, who had some words for the idiot who loaded poison into the nose without telling her or putting up the required warning signs. She looked at my bills, saw the only actual “food” in those 10 skids was a case of Gatorade, and just told me to leave it.
