    Of course;

The major difference between then and now is that there were no humans on the planet during the last occurrence when the ice melted completely down to an ice free arctic, as is what is guaranteed to happen within just a few years. Our own military is mobilizing right now in the arctic to begin claiming (and defending land) in the Arctic ocean as more and more land and sea becomes available for oil exploration as the ice recedes. Same goes for Russia, China, Denmark, India, and Japan, as well as the E.U.

Donald Trump even made an attempt to buy Greenland, strictly and only for it’s possible natural resources that are becoming increasingly more available as the walls of impenatrable ice recede.

How ironic; the very same practices that brought a very dangerous problem to the planet in the first place are now aggresively doubling down and tapping into a dying beast thats taking everything with it.

There’s 8 billion people now on this planet all dependent upon vast quantities of wheat, rice, and corn (including the United States); all of which will be severely affected when the average temps jump just a couple of degrees up; a result of rapid warming when all the ice is gone during the summer months.

In just a few years from now, remember back to this year and your stance regarding this issue.

If you get a chance, travel on over to Glacier National Park in Montana.

As a child in the 60’s I was enthralled with all the magnificent glaciers; the enormous size, the sheer power, the gorgeous bluish tint, the melting ‘glacier milk’ that was an azure blue, watery runoff from the normal melting of the ice. The area had one of the highest concentrations of glaciers in the lower 48.

Now, you can stand right where these glaciers used to be... with no ice anywhere in sight.
And the projection is that all remaining ice will be completely gone in Glacier National Park within 10 years, if not sooner. All of them. You can see it for yourself.

Yes, all the ice on our planet has waxed and waned over the millennium, ice age after ice age; but never so quickly as is what’s happening now.... all in the course of about a hundred years ( hell, my own, living mother just turned 93). And strictly due to human activity and human activity only. What’s happening now is not a case of history repeating itself; this is a case of history being made.

The surface temperature of Venus is higher than that of Mercury.

“Unpossible. Mercury is closer to the sun, you luddite”.

Oh, it’s very possible. The reason is Venus has an atmosphere.

The truly baffling thing is that there are no people there to build cars and trucks and factories with smokestacks.

    Hmmmm...:biggrin_2558:

I suppose we’re responsible for global warm.... I mean “climate change” on other planets now too, right?

It will be great once they start enforcing their emission laws. Finally non-compliant trucks will be removed from the supply and trucks like my 2018 Volvo 780 will be more in demand and the paltry rates I get in CA will improve. There is always a silver lining.

The point is to keep Earth more like earth and less like Venus.

No, the point is that the sun is responsible, not people, who on the cosmic scale are roughly comparable to the flea on the buttocks of the bull.

The sun is the common thread.

Previously unsuspected volcanic activity confirmed under West Antarctic Ice Sheet at Pine Island Glacier

    Article from National Science Foundation
    Brief exerpt from the article:
he researchers first noted the volcanic activity in 2007 and verified its existence again in 2014.

A complete collapse of the Thwaites Glacier could significantly affect global sea levels, according to scientists. The Thwaites already drains an area roughly the size of the state of Florida, accounting for about 4 percent of global sea level rise -- an amount that has doubled since the mid-1990s.

The best part about californiais they impose these crazy laws . and run such a messed up political system . they think they have all the great ideas and advice for the country but they have the biggest mess inside of that state with the homlessness and drug problems. Now u got elon musk wanting to build tunnels all around the city talking about its gonna take 1 billion dollars per mile of tunnel. I just have to wonder if they arr so far into debt and have no money left to spend or no money to help their own people why does any other state or person or governement entity take them seriouslly? How far do we have to go , before people realize california and their politicians are just full of #### ?

And how about now that they are complaining def fluid is polluting their atmosphere ? What about the 42 bazillion cars that clog that frickin place up ? Nobody talks about all them cars, they never put laws into place to limit the cars on the road . its always truckers faults. these hippies states always blame everything on the trucker and the farmers . i wish all the farmers would leave , along with the truckers and let those morons fend for themselves.

I am going to point out something that most people don't really think about.

All that carbon people are concerned about? It is coming from fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels are made of dead animals and plants.

At one time in history, all that carbon stored underground was mostly above ground. And, at that point in history, the world was an incredibly vibrant.

Over time, as animals and plants died, their carbon was stored underground.

If we take the carbon back out of the ground, the world will warn up, sure, but humanity will be in absolutely no danger whatsoever.

There might be issues with some cities and tracts of land becoming submerged, but that will just encourage us to either start developing underwater, or move inland.

TLDR; Even if all the worst case scenarios are true, humanity is not in danger, only some of the land we currently use.
