I totally agree, even though im at 12 layover/holdover for the year i know its only a matter of time until i sit more lol. Dispatch is definitely the biggest issue at poly. They have done good on just about everything else, making things better. Hopefully they work something out with these loads.

From what I'm reading on TTR and following
    The industry news.
You can either sit here,or get another job and sit there.
Lot of trucks sitting across the country.

Can you turn your layover into a nice little vacation for you hardworking self?

A few months ago I had a load out of Up North that ended in Carlstadt NJ. I delivered it Friday and had to wait until Monday. I sent in a message on the computer for Friday BH load but they claimed they didn't get it even though there was a record of it. "You should have talked to us on the phone." So I had to wait at the turnpike rest area in Seacacus until Monday and I made sure I enjoyed myself. I rented a car and drove to Jersey City and took the ferry to Ellis Island and The Statue Of Liberty. My first time. It was interesting.

Whats the deal with these "mandatory" safety meetings at Grand Pairie?

I left Grand Prairie on 10/26 and didn't come back until 11/10, leaving again a few hours later.

I missed the first meeting, will miss the 2nd meeting. Chances are pretty high that unless I get deliberately held back, I might miss the rest of the scheduled meetings.

I'd be pretty pissed if a work week was disrupted and I lost mileage just to force me to attend one of these meetings.

I have been sitting much more than I want with this company. Also, I'm pretty sure I got held back a weekend in order to force me to take another Monday road test at the three month mark. They denied the road test was the reason they had no loads for me Saturday or Sunday, but I have my suspicions. This is the only job that required me to take additional road tests after the initial orientation road test.

You have to road test every year there...and when Alan was running the show, and he was in his office, he would randomly check to see if the testee ran their required mileage on the test instead of just driving up to the closest intersection and returning. Not sure if Hyatt does it any different

It's a law of nature: to come up with rules like that, there has to be somebody with no driving experience involved.

If you are there you need to go to the meeting, other than that i wouldn't worry about it.

None of the departments communicate well with each other in my opinion. So if you needed a road test and they thought that was more important than you getting a load. One would have to talk to the other and that just doesn't happen much, if at all. Sure someone in the office can put you on hold and keep you from getting a load but you would know that for sure.

Outbound sure does have its issues lately so im not surprised you sat two days, heck im almost surprised you only sat two days waiting on a load lol.

This is my first holiday season with Poly, what are the holidays like with this company?

I’m talking in terms of freight volume.

I wasn’t planning on taking thanksgiving off. I took this weekend off, called last week to put myself on the board for today (Monday), but I haven’t even received a phone call yet and the office staff went home for the day.

Hate being stuck in limbo, because than I can’t plan my time.

So, is Poly hiring at this time?? I have submitted an application through the web site and have not heard anything from anyone. I though it could be because they are just not hiring at the moment.

They continue to place driver ads regularly on certain job lists. I know this because I'm currently looking. It may take a little while to hear back from them. I applied in October 2010 but my hire date wasn't until early-to-mid December 2010. It's definitely worth waiting a little while for an interview since they're a pretty good company to drive for overall.
