You basically got the warranty for free.

 

So has anyone gotten the letter yet requiring us all to have worker's comp or occ/acc within the next couple months? They are supposed to be rolling it out state by state, with I think the most restrictive states first. I expect NC will be near the top of the list because of their onerous and overburdening requirements. I'm wondering what the cost will be?

 

I have occ/acc already...$130 per month
I have to have surgery on my ankle in jan, so ill b off 2 months. Gonna see if i can get some of that money back from them.

 

Did you get hurt on the job and file a claim?

 

Ya, I thought for some reason Mercer required everyone to have it? I had it regardless for the same amount as posted below... $130 a month. Never did need to use it though.

 

I believe as of May 1 it was required of all new contractors.

 

The doc says it is repetitive from in/out the truck and jumping off step decks. Kinda like carpal tunnel for for ur foot

 

Hello, thinking about moving my truck to Mercer, all approved, bringing my tractor, 12 Pete 587 and my '17 hyuandai dry van. my average to the truck has been about $2,200/wk after fuel, insurance, etc..Are the dry vans at Mercer doing as good or better? I was told alot of operators jump on the ups or fedex, whatever it is, this time of year. Also, would like some information on flats.

 

When i left in March i was doing Van. The rate's i found wasn't the best.. Be lucky around 1.50 or so a mile not counting DH.. Almost half the loads u select on are either gone or taken... Be prepaid to have ur phone ran off the hook. On the flatbed side i rarely had a broker called me but on the VAN side it was NUTS every load i was getting called on from brokers asking my location and what not.

 

I've been pulling a van at Mercer since 2016 and I've very rarely been called by one of our agents. As far as the way the load board works with deciding who gets what load (tldr: truck empty the longest that matches to load gets first shot but there is only an 8 minute window from the time the load is posted generally, then it is a free for all), you need to get used to it and pay attention during orientation.

As far as what you keep, no one but you knows those numbers. I can tell you in 2018 my average gross for every 7 days out was around $4,400 and my all miles CPM was just over 1.80. This year has been horrid by comparison.

I've not worked the UPS seasonal stuff because the hours stink for the way I like to run. I've seen some of the quotes which have ranged from nice, might consider if I didn't have anything better to do, to oh hell no.
