What do you guys think of rollover protection? I sometimes don’t like it because honestly I like to fly when I’m empty or bobtailing and I can feel it kick in/slow me down in those times.

On the other hand, I was once hauling a trailer that the springs busted on the passenger side, and when I took a left hand turn I looked over and it looked like I could have literally stood underneath the driver side tires. I hit the throttle and steered to the right immediately and I thank God it slammed back to ground.

I have to wonder if I saved it myself or if rollover protection played a part. What do you guys think of the government mandated rollover protection? Like it or lump it?

    YOU are the professional.

Anything attached to the truck in the name of safety takes away from you being the captain of the ship. Ive had a few onery trucks try to get away from me to lie down or roll properly over a couple of times but wrestled them back to behave.

And you are still responsible if the roll over control failed and you ended up rolling over. No job no good DACs and so forth. No thank you.

I'll drive a screaming old iron first with nothing on it computer wise. And those can be pretty tough to roll.

At some point that truck is going to have everything. And laugh at you electronically if you wanted to actually do your job and be driving. Otherwise you are sitting in a gilded cage on wheels with Government all over and alive in it with no control at all.

Sometimes I rollover on a kitty when I'm sleeping.

There's really no foreseeing these events.

Yeah, I'm a little lost at the "rollover protection keeps engaging" part. o_O

It's trucking, not Dukes of Hazard.
