But we can't confirm anything because OP never bothered to tell us what we're looking at.FlaSwampRat, Oxbow, pushbroom and 2 others Thank this. -
Yes, need to know make, model and year of truck.
Oxbow, Socal Xpress and AModelCat Thank this. -
Paccar engines used to be bad about this.
This is a communication fault.
J1939 is the backbone that every system on board uses to talk to each other. Depending on the year of the truck there are connectors at the left rear top of the engine. 2 pin connectors with a green and yellow wire. Check for a bad connection here.
If it's not obvious you'll need the dealer. There are terminating resistors in several locations that will need to be tested.FlaSwampRat, Oxbow, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -

The first one they installed turned out to be defective, found out the hard way when my truck wouldn't start. I had to cut and splice the ignition wire to bypass the unit to get it to run so I could get it replaced.FlaSwampRat and just g p Thank this. -
Wouldn't you have to sign off on this or acknowledge the device being installed on the Contract? Asking this now after the fact....... well I understand but OP
