    Another update.

TruNorth has proven themselves to be even bigger dirtbags than expected.

They are dodging the repairs of the cylinder and liner, and hiding behind a faulty reading of their own warrantee to do it.

I do not have the time to deal with TruNorth crap anymore. I'm going to call my investment with them a win for the 11k I got towards this job, and stop fighting them while I lose money sitting in a hotel.

I am starting a conversation with Freightliner about a second work order encompassing all the parts of an engine rebuild that are missing from the current work we're doing.

If I'm going to pay for one cylinder and liner, might as well, do the whole job.

We shall see how much headache this turns into, working only with Freightliner, in a way that they normally don't work.

It’s sad how “good” these warranty companies are at screwing over their customers while happily collecting their money up front. They know exactly what they’re doing and also realize the pressures you feel and how they can utilize that leverage to work in their favor.

Good job though man, anyone else who’s not so diligent or can’t afford to sit at all would have gotten an even more raw deal so to speak. I admire your determination.

If I end up with a full rebuild on the engine, then my calculations are going to need to change. I'll be pushing my ownership of the truck out at least another six months, and with a rebuilt motor, the motor will last longer then the aftermarket warrantee.

So, staying in the truck and simply saving money for a new truck with a very large down payment in cash after I pay off this truck might be a good idea. I don't know yet.

My concern is this. What's next? The transmission? Differentials? The One Box was already replaced at 500k miles, so that's probably good until 1,000,000 or so miles, even if the filters will need a cleaning or two in the time being.

I'm not going to think too seriously about that future until I have the current problems resolved. IMHO, it's good to plan ahead, but if you plan for the future without knowing what's happening now, then you're asking for headaches.

Trans and rears should go well past a million miles with just regular service. I’ve only had one trans go bad and it had 1.7mil on it.

Unless you abuse them rear ends will out last you. 2 million miles is nothing for a differential that runs general freight. Just change the oil out every 250k miles and check the magnet for metal. I forget what kind of transmission you got but if it's a 10 speed it's nearly indestructible And cost to rebuild including labor is under 5k.

With my 680’s with isx and 10 sp the clutches go around 550 to 575 like clock work. The power divider and starter as well. Oh and wheel seal leaks spring up much more common it seems.

Edit: also the spring pin bushings always need replaced at that same mileage. You start getting a popping in the front end.

You hire drivers. An employee driver will never take care of equipment like an experienced owner driver that cares will.

Edit to add. Part of that experience I mentioned is having to write big checks. That teaches you to take extra care with your equipment.

####, you've got a truck with a brand new rebuild and a fresh onebox. I'd be keeping that sucker now that you've got those two done. Good luck with whatever you decide to do FarmerBob.

Your tough , I probably would have thrown them the keys and said "shes all yours" ! My Cascadia has had APU its entire life , I have to think that's the key with these newer trucks . I'm at 650k but I know at any time this could go sour .

I think True North sells some kind of cheesey health insurance to owner operators too. Can you imagine....lol
