    Portage, WI at the Petro.

Nice day today, except for the accident in I-39 in Madison and my cooler burning out.
Delivered at a Walmart in IL then picked up at Costco in Morris. About 15 minutes in and out for both.
3 cars involved in that accident. The first one I saw was nose first against the center divide, the second had the rear bumper ripped off, and the third was very well smashed both front and rear.

And my Coleman cooler went out, again.
I think that is it for Coleman coolers. That is the fourth one to go out this year. The quality control seems to be way off these days.
I'll have to find something else now, and this Petro has zero coolers in stock.

I'm headed to Fargo, ND with a load that is supposed to deliver tomorrow at 1400.
That won't happen with that storm. Fargo is getting plastered.
I'll get as far as I can tomorrow as the weather won't get too bad until west of Minneapolis.

I’m a truck cooler expert. If you leave your cooler plugged in 24/7 you will burn out the outlet and you will never be able to use that outlet again. Might take take one month or six months but it will happen for sure. You have to unplug it for several hours a day, usually when your sleeping, Your food will be fine, Try to push it away from the bunk heater vent as much as you can.

The big advantage of the igloo coolers is that the plug/cord is detachable. Since that is always the first part to fail you can just keep extra plugs in your truck. If you unplug your cooler and the tip of the plug burns your thumb it’s time to replace it. You can buy the plugs on Amazon or use your points at the truck stop.

It is only the past year or so that I have had that problem with the Coleman coolers, and I have been checking it often now and unplug it when it gets too hot.
But too often now it gets very hot within 10 minutes.

I replaced the plug on one of the last ones with a heavy duty plug and it ran very cool for quite some time, then it simply melted and blew the truck fuse.

The funny thing is, it is not plugged directly into the outlet of the truck.
I use a splitter and it shares with my GPS.
And while the cooler plug gets very hot, the splitter plug that is plugged in to socket of the truck stays cool even with the GPS plugged in.
There is something about the Coleman plug that is wrong.
    Among other things, I think.
Maybe they changed some components in the design recently.

And today the plug never got very hot, the unit just quit.
I replaced the plug, but the unit is dead.

I have been using this same model cooler for 9 years. It is only very recently that these problems have come up.
Prior to the past year or so, the cooler stayed plugged in 24/7 without a problem. The only time it would be unplugged is if frost formed or I had to thaw out food it had frozen.

Get the Igloo. That’s what they sell at the T/A anyway so you can use your points.

    FerrissWheel and Moosetek13 Thank this.

I went with the Koolatron this time.
Way more expensive, but I like the option of AC or DC power.

I don't really like the size, inside or outside.
It is wider than the Coleman so I have less room to get by it, and I think I can fit more in the Coleman even though the Koolatron boasts a larger capacity.

At nearly $250 I am hoping this one does not fail too soon.

With the Coleman did you have the lid opening on top or opening to the front? In other words did you have the blowing to the side or blowing out the top the way you had it situated in your truck? I recommend having the blower up top.
