I made a video after being put out of service tonight. If you agree with anything being said please share this video around Facebook pages and with others so MORE people can be aware of this skewed against small carriers CSA system and how it impacts us. Remember this year the report came out that fmcsa admitted “that csa does not accurately predict crash probability” and that it needs to be scrapped or revised. Was supposed to be improved late 2019 but never did.
CSA DOES NOT WORK

I got too much to do to waste 18 minutes watching a video when you can post what happened, and I can read it in 2.
Why did you get placed OOS, and in what way did CSA contribute to that?Dale thompson, Studebaker Hawk, scottied67 and 3 others Thank this. -
CSA is skewed against small carriers. DOT is not educated or doesn’t care about the impact their “judgement calls” have on our ability to do further business and insurance rates. That’s the connection. The question you ask me is one of those self indicting questions lawyers try to ask. I guess the answer is CSA has nothing to do with me being out of service and that’s the problem. These two systems are not working on tandem. And not ACCOUNTING for safety, only violations.
I am the end result of a safer highway. No moving violations, no accidents, I know my truck n trailer like the back of my hand. I have a creeper. I go under the truck, I check steering, brakes, lights, leaks. I wrench on my own truck. I carry tools, and parts. I drive 60-65mph in the right lane by myself. AND I actually enjoy what I do! I look forward to it!
I just put all new brake chambers (yes all new cans every position), S-Cam’s on the truck and trailer before I left out (2days ago), 2 new air bags, a leveling valve that was barely leaking, 4 new trailer tires, 4 new rims. About 5k worth of PREVENTIVE maintenance I paid for.
one of the brake lines going to a new can wasn’t tight all the way. I let one of my shops do it, and I should of done it myself. I tested for applied air leaks before I left home, 2 days ago. I tightened the hose a turn and a half, done. No leak. OOS. My first one in two years on my own authority. Now I’m 100% OOS rate, and have the most dangerous score in trucking. More dangerous then the mega companies who caused fatality accidents this week and had many OOS. I take accountability for the air leak, it’s still my fault I guess. But my SAFETY is not being accounted for, my hard earned $ I invest back into my operation (preventively) is not being accounted for, and this whole thing has a HIGH TENDENCY to be petty, uneffective, and leave the unsafe companies and the unskilled drivers on the road. Why? Because they have more trucks and the proportions are in their favor. Real safety would have been noticing my effort, my great tires, my new brakes, my name on the door, my clean appearance, my company shirt, my organized paperwork, and say “driver what do you want to do about this little leak, you got some wrenches? Want see if it’s something small real quick”, fix it, and send me on my way no csa. if this doesn’t resonate with you then I don’t know what to say. I would of took the revised csa system that was supposed to be in place October 2019, where it accounted for more than just vehicle “maintenance”. But they didn’t keep their word.
by the way, the same state police that said all he wanted to do was keep the highways safe, after I tightened the hose I go back inside and ask if he wants to check it before I leave, he says no your good just sign off for it. Didn’t even check to see if I was lying, he “really cared about safety”Last edited: Jan 11, 2020

Yes it does blow for the small carrier with no inspections. Well, at least now your score will be going down from the extra effort of more inspections at every weigh station you pass. You know, instead of dealing with the fools that drive falling apart equipment going around scales.
Company my brother in law works for delivering propane almost got put OOS for CSA scores. Their sin? They employee about 80% farmers who flatly refuse to wear seal belts.
You can argue if seat belts are a good thing or not, I don't care. The point is the company almost got shut down because of tickets the drivers were more than willing to pay if they got one.Accidental Trucker Thanks this. -
So the one and only time you have ever been inspected they found something wrong?
