Nope it isnt. Not enough space from front fender to battery box.....still a nice one though. I know where one is sittin a good ole boy showed me. But I'd have to really , really ask and annoy the gentlemen to part wit it ! LOL

 

One thing about being old, I can say I've had the pleasure of driving a few NEW late 70s KWs and petes. A treat it was, but didn't realize it at the time.

So I've been doing some thinking.... dangerous thing i know....

The elite truck had a system on it where they sucked the oil out of the pan when doing an oil change. Never had to crawl under and drop a plug etc etc.

Got me to thinkin a feller could do that on the cheap. Get 25 gallon drum. Put a couple of fittings in the lid. One to accept a shop vac hose and the other a PVC pipe about 2 inches off the bottom with a hose nipple on the other end. Stick on a piece of clear tubing that would fit down the filler neck on the block and reach to the bottom of the oil pan.

Turn on the shop vac and suck it out of the pan. Then if you needed to pump the oil from the drum into say a heater or a recycling container you just flip the hose on the shop vac to the pressure side and let er rip.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

 

In theory yes, however you will not pull enough vac with a shop vac to suck out a fluid with the viscosity of 15w40 engine oil.

Next question is how do you know you removed all the old oil?

Welp batteries are only 10months old but she sure had a struggle this am light'n off.. 15°f rolling out to Elyria..

 

You could put a fitting in place of the drain plug and run a hose up to the frame rail have a hydraulic hose connector on the end. That's how those trucks worked. The system sucked the old out and filled it via that connection.

And I guess going that way you could always just have a pump to draw it out vs pulling a vacuum on the container its self.

I got the idea from someone doing it to draw trans fluid out of a car to change it.
