Hand, I don’t want to tell you how to run your business, but I don’t want you to go broke either, okay?
If you don’t frequent those areas west of i35, don’t go out there for less than double your usual rate, and that doesn’t include tarp fees. If you break down, the repairs are going to hit you for double. Everything is going to cost you double.
Now, if they give you your rate to go out there, look for a load back before you deliver. If by the time, your wagon is empty, you don’t have your next load lined up, put her in the wind! So many drivers make the mistake of going out into a dead zone, and then sitting for days waiting for a halfway decent load. The only decent paying loads will be going farther into the dead zone. So, you wasted a day, grabbed a load that will only help you break even and took it to a worse area for freight where the highest paying loads will be $.80/mile. I made that mistake before. There were a whole bunch of loads paying $.54/mile. You can easily blow a week away before you get back to your freight lane.

It's not the park brake switch because its MIA.
For some reason my ecm only see rpm, no speed or mileage. I had the mechanic check it last month or so & it showed ~32k hours, but 0 miles. We even had it plugged in running down the road & still only rpm..
I think you see where I'm going with this..?
No speed, no cruise. But I can high idle down the boulevard like a champ. Just have to remember if you don't hit the kill switch by hand she'll try & power through the brakes. I only use it in wide open spaces, & its become 2nd nature to go for that switch before the brake. Sorry y'all. Probably something I should of kept to myself..
Edit. Oh wait, you just sparked something. Maybe I removed a normally closed switch from under the steering column, & that's why the truck always thinks the brakes are set..? -
I was light loaded, didnt complain. Went full rate. I sold out and gonna pull customers van in the am. Gonna have to put the old bucket in the wind all day.

What about the 3day Cali pass? I believe this is the last year you can get one. Never been, too big a risk in ol' Buck?
Rather bounce empty than contribute to toilet rates. At least they paid well coming out here. Should've seen the writing on the wall..exhausted379, jamespmack, Eldiablo and 7 others Thank this. -
could look for a uhaul load outta Phoenix but I’m sure those are cheap too.Eldiablo, Slowpoke KW, singlescrewshaker and 6 others Thank this. -

They paid good out here, but it was only 160% of what I like to earn. So yup, if I have to bounce to far empty I'll be down to 80% of what i want, & today was already a bust..
There is just this appeal to me to head west. Don't know why. I despise CA, yet I've never been..
Thanks, I'll have to not let the fun emotions of running west get in the way of business.. 3rd times the charm..jamespmack, cke, Eldiablo and 6 others Thank this.
