If I had to get from an active lane to the shoulder I might do this. That's about it.

 

I once broke a front spring, snapped right at the shim, behind the axle. South side of Chicago, in the middle of a winter night. I Zip tied and duct taped it. It held up, being the front leaf was secure in the hanger, and bolted good at u bolts . I carefully ran 120 miles, to the WS Dealer. I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do, but I did it.

 

I didn't see a bad ball joint. I seen a bad tierod end.
