If that's the hill I think it is, just west of Columbia, that one's enough of a problem even in dry weather with how rapid a descent that is, if one doesn't watch oneself or gets overconfident. (Actually, the whole of 70 through Missouri is annoyingly aggravating--compared to other routes through hilly areas, it just seems like the hills and curves along 70--and 44 for that matter--just weren't graded out right or something.)

    It's a business.

Tow truck drivers, hospitals, the State and lawyers all make out nicely because of accidents.

When I was running out of St. Louis, I got so tired of I-70 through Missouri that I'd take US 36 across whenever I could. I-44 is terrible through Missouri too. On some of the divided state highways, it looks like they add a hill on one side of the road and then the other just to mess with drivers.

I don't miss driving there. It's a backward state. One time I called to report a pedestrian walking on the shoulder of I-44 and the 911 operator was confused. She asked, "Is he OK?" That's when I realized that Missouri doesn't have any laws against pedestrians walking along the interstate. Heck, you can ride your mule on the shoulder of the interstate in Missouri if you want to.

Same. Depending on my route, I take 61 to to Hannibal and pick up 36 there, or take 61 up to 218 into Iowa and follow SR 163 into Des Moinnes continue west and northward from there. 70 wears on my nerves...

Depending on your route, there's a way around those (!).

Red Light Camera is illegal in Arkansas thank god. However the cameras do exist generally by the State to monitor traffic for the web server Idrive we depend on quite a bit for storms and so forth. However we are plagued by incessant politics and feet dragging on 62' era concrete slowly tearing our cars up.
