This could happen at any time of the day
    To any one of us.

My worst nightmare is blowing a steer tire in the
Corner, coming down a mountainside, and plummeting
A 1000 feet into the abyss.
    That's instant death.

The truck driver in this accident walked away unscathed.

I guess it could happen at any time, but at daytime there’s a better chance that wrong way driver I s going to hit someone else:eek: before me.

What a airhead im just glad it killed the 4 wheeler and not the trucker. I wonder if drugs or alcohol had any say in the matter.

Arizona DPS shares terrifying video of trucker’s deadly encounter with wrong way driver

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has released dash cam video of a wrong way crash involving a motorist and a trucker last month.

The fatal crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. on January 4 in Phoenix, Arizona.

In the video, 31 year old motorist Josafath Rubio-Hernandez can be seen traveling north in the southbound lanes of Loop 202.

The truck driver spots the wrong way vehicle and can be heard yelling “Wrong-way driver! Oh my God!” as he tries to take evasive action to avoid the car. But as he swerves left, so does the car, resulting in a violent head-on crash.

Not criticizing the truck driver because I know from personal experience these things can happen extremely quickly (none connected, but a couple came close), but if you're ever in that situation it is better to try an evasive maneuver to the right. There doesn't appear to be a reason why he couldn't, but, again, these things happen a lot faster in real life than the video illustrates and I wasn't there.

This may have been a possible “suicide by truck”! Most people would swerve to avoid a head-on collision with a semi, not turn towards it! Especially a loaded car hauler!

Possibly. Or, the car driver was impaired or disoriented and thought they were in the right. Typically the instinctive response would be to swerve to the right. The other factor could be target fixation... you go where you look. It takes practice to learn to look away from impending doom and seek an escape.

Actually, I was told to take evasive action to the left, just like the truck driver here did. When you take evasive action to the right, you’re putting yourself closer to the oncoming traffic. The four wheel driver took it to right and didn’t make it.

There’s a better chance for the driver to survive an accident if he/she hits it with the passenger side/corner .

    FerrissWheel Thanks this.
