Got nailed by hail and now have a 6 inch crack. It's a 2 piece windshield crack is drivers side starts at bottom and runs up 4" then heads right to the middle. I'm sure it will run some more because of those so smooth roads. Is it legal to run like this if it doesn't get in the field of view? Just want to run like this for 10 days then get it fixed.

I believe if it's in the path of the wiper blade it a fail.
Ribeye, magoo68, QuietStorm and 1 other person Thank this. -
I get them every winter across the bottom of my windshield, I've gotten couple of dings on inspections for them.

Hate it when that happens, fortunately at least the entire windshield doesn’t have to go. But I’d get it fixed sooner rather than later, just another excuse to get hassled by the wrong DOT officer who at his discretion will say it’s a violation

Ah crapola thought so guess I'll bite the bullet and have someone come out today and fix it thanks
QuietStorm Thanks this. -
Last fall I got hit by a barrage of quarter sized hail up on Elk Mtn in WY... I came out of it with a broken windshield... Mine looked like someone shot it with a .38! Luckily I was on my way home so I called ahead and had them get me some new glass and it was replaced the next day.
motocross25 and InTooDeep Thank this. -
seemed like every time i got one glass replaced, the other one would get hit.
i stopped writting it up, i used to work nights, and the only 2 scales (1 north, 1 south) were always closed after 5 PM, until about 7 AM....and that was even IF they were gonna open.
i just waited until Penske took the truck in for service.
"i dunno, actually happened last night"....was my favorite speech. -

On the state inspection we used to have. It got abolished last year for whatever stupid reason. Although I think semis still have it.
It was 4 inches from top or bottom. 6 inches from sides.
Called the acute area.InTooDeep Thanks this.
