Wallens05...be sure the financing has been approved already. Meaning you have documentation on hand. It would suck to see you on here in 3-weeks stating they now need a co-signer and more money. They are known for this! (Assuming you are going through financing)

Congrats on you guys making that leap and getting training at Roadmasters. Pre hires are nice, but don't limit yourself to them. I have a friend that finishes up at Roadmaster soon and I have told him about what a contractor at FedEx Ground has to offer. I think it would be a much better opportunity for a student than going to a bottom feeder. There are very few contractors that are allowed to take student. I do not work for one, but if you search FedEx under the transport section on CL, you will find one here in Columbus out of the hub in Grove City.
I know they start out in the mid .30's cpm. You would run with that contractors trainer for 96 hours, then run team with a driver for 960 more hours. That's roughly 16 - 20 weeks. After that, if you desired, FedEx would let you be solo with that contractor if he had a position.
I was lucky when I started. Company hired me, trained me for 4 weeks, then off I went in a truck around the country. Doesn't work that way now. That was 16 years ago. But after reading horror stories on here and seeing a friend go through something like that to the point he gave up on driving all together after a couple months (he didn't listen to a few of us as what to expect), I'd hate to see anyone else go through that.
So, good luck in "school", and remember that when you "graduate" you have the skills to pass your CDL test but still need plenty of training. -
