Steele, I've got to ask, is he paying the motel or weiner (sic) or is all of this coming out of his pocket? Don't they pay a whopping $45 a day breakdown? LOL Oh I break me up! ROFL! I'm sorry but I've been following your tale of a lost trucker and it's amazing that he's holding on for so long! And I guess you saw this post about pay cuts there at big blue right?

Steele, If he has a online brokeage account, he can place a sell order any time.
You can setup price range and sell date at any time.

Being a non offical with Werner he call sell his stock with out any SEC filing.

You dont have any "seniority" at a company like this. Who is whining about a truck with 300K on it?? A truck isnt even broken in until 300-400k. Trucking companies dont care about thier drivers and never have. Is this news to you people?:biggrin_2556:

No, he is not at a motel, he is home. If he was brokedown on the road, he would be at a motel, at Werner's cost.

As for breakdown pay, for last week, he was allowed $300 in breakdown pay for the week HOWEVER, it will NOT be paid until the truck is out of the shop. Which means, no check this week.

And yes, stock was sold Monday. Bills still need to be paid, food still needs to be bought, and money still needs to be in the bank after all this is done.

He sold a few shares on Monday, nothing major. It just irritates me that Werner benefits told him that he couldn't sell stock until after he no longer worked for Werner. And it wasn't only one one occassion, it was several times.

So here's the Tuesday update. Three guesses and the first two don't count where the truck is at..........................................

Needless to say, now Freightliner says it's the Ubolts (on the leaf springs) and are replacing them. They say they were worn/loose and were wondering all over the place, which they say would cause the vibration in the truck and cause the truck to pull to the right. They said the truck should be out of the shop today..... *rolls eyes*

As for the Monday shag loads, he was actually assigned two to his truck. He went ahead and did them however, he took one of the extra daycabs to do the deliveries. So, for about three hours time, he gets a whopping $40.00 (minus taxes). He does not get the additional $0.08 per mile since according to the QComm in the daycab, he went 0 miles, as he never left the city limits.

    Tick tock.. tick tock....

I agree however, if the truck is NOT FUNCTIONAL and sitting at a dealership, then ITS NOT a truck that can be used. And again remember, he has had this truck nearly two weeks, and has only driven 1,200 miles during that entire time with one breakdown on the road.

Hello, do you even read the posts? Surface damage is one thing however, mechanical damage and non-functionality is another. While you may like sitting alongside a road stranded waiting several hours for service/tow, most drivers don't.

While you may like having a truck that breaks down after only about 1,000 miles, and breaks down 19 miles after picking up a load, and sitting along side a road for two hours, most driver's don't.

And while you may like driving a truck that contantly pulls in one direction and vibrates to the point where you feel like you can't control the truck, some drivers are a little more safety oriented.

I see that you have only driven for three years, and looking at the posts you make on this board that you seem to never have anything positive to say, only negative about nearly all drivers and all companies. If you do not like driving, then I would suggest considering finding a new line of work. Some people do have the mentality to drive for over 20 years, and stay with the same company nearly all of that time. It's called workers ethic, personal standards, and pride. I'm sorry that your motivation is not up to the job.

While a company can treat you like crap, they can not take away from you your own opinion of yourself, or your DAC. And once you achieve a million mile status or more, they also can not take that away from you. And they can not take away from you a nearly 18 year driving record. While a company may not "care" about you, why would you let yourself feel that way about you. It's your decision of how you feel about yourself and no one elses.

If you know that you give 100% and try to do a job correctly and safely to the best of your ability, then who cares what a company says? Only you can tell yourself that you are a bad driver, unless your having preventable accidents ever other day. Do you really believe everything you are told, hear, see about yourself?

I am sorry that you do not have a higher opinion of yourself as a driver. Maybe you need to look inside yourself for your motivation as a driver instead of to the companies or find another line of work that you feel you are worthy of pursuing.

    Tuesday evening update........................

Truck still at Freighliner, now at eight days.
"We are still working on it."

I've told Highlander they have until noon tomorrow to get the truck done or I'm taking matters into my own hands, and calling the owner and corporate to ask WTF the problem seems to be. Because at this point, they are contributing to him not being on the road and not making money, wasting Werners money (who cares about that one but remember, its a business thang), and sitting on the truck.

I know as of Saturday at 4:30pm, remembering the truck had been at the Las Vegas Freightliner for five days, there was only six hours billed on this truck. I think some mechanics are sitting on their wrenches and air lines and enjoying it way too much.

Additionally, it seems that Werner is trying to do something illegal on the account Highlander is on. They have decided that if you do damage or have an accident at the accounts property, your pay will be reduced $0.10 per mile for seven days. Sorry Werner, that is illegal per the Department of Labor and the Labor Board. (Not that Highlander has done such an act.)

Im not in the mood for stupidity this evening, and my patience, along with Highlander's is wearing very very thin... *twitch*

omg... Omg.. OMG... THE TRUCK IS DONE! (at least lets hope it is!). Freightliner replaced the U bolts, put the truck back in line.. again... and put it up on the ... oh I don't know what its called. Where they put the truck up on it and run it? The vibration is gone. Let us hope that this is the last of this BS.

But needless to say.... now he has to get the full service done. (Remember that? When he got the truck it was due for the full service, which the Dallas terminal didn't do for some reason?) So that's on the agenda for today, and has to be done this morning because... he has a load to Montana leaving this afternoon! YAY!

Ya know.. I love Highlander to death, but when you get involved with a truck driver you get use to them being around 1-2, 3 days at most at a time... NOT TWO WEEKS. Finally, I get to CLEAN! Which means I wont be around here for quite a while!

Good luck. I had a very short stint with Werner in late '01/early '02 and the first I learned of drivers having their trucks sold out from under them was in Dallas. They also had a Freightliner Classic sitting in the garage there with a sign that read "One Piece At A Time", it's probably still sitting there. Heh.
