I agree that there will not be a strike. My husband is a company driver. He cannot refuse a load, and if he did one of the other drivers would take it. Virginia is an at will state. Which means they can fire you without reason or notice, and you can quit without reason or notice. Sending letters to congress stating the problems and what you need done is best. So make a list of things that need changed and the problems you are having.

THE TRUCKS are not going to shut down, o there are a few small groupes that try from time to time but not enough to do any good for a shut down to work it has to be in very large numbers and drivers are just not ready.
they are to busy fighting each other on a cb radio and they havent lost enough yet , they havent given enough and they havent been abused enough to get mad enough to just park them.o and by the way it would not be a strike it would be a shutdown , we are not a union and unions strike.
could it happen o you bet it can there are enough drivers if they ever got together they could easily shut down the whole country and could get whatever they wanted .
they want to shut down for the wrond things, the price of fuel , really it wont work the fuel is not ours we buy it from another country how you gonna make another county lower there price aint gonna happen.
drivers today are to much in love with themselves they dont care about each other or the industry just whats in it for me attitude with an attitues like that we are not going to get anywhere.
when they lose enough and they come together as one then you will see a shut down like no one has seen before but they just havent lost enough yet .
ive been envolved in five shut downs the last one in 1973 now that was a shutdown dc still talks about it so do all the neighboring states. but that was a different breed back then we pretty much took care of each other but not any more the new breed has a new way of thinking do i understand it , nope afrais not never seen anything like it but i do no till they change and start thinking of each other its gonna be the same old thing
ive only been out here for 45 plus years and ive never seen anything like it but it what they want who am i to tell them no.
good luck to all southern pride -
lets do this.....count out all drivers who wont stand together and leave them behind as collateral damage.....obviously if your a driver and you are not being rail roaded then you are the acception and not the rule.....lets take everyone else who will stand together and organize.....even so we still out number all opposition 100/1 at least...be safe

Getting the Truckers UNITED is a major step, then there is MONEY to get it going and keep it going! And keeping People from getting Killed or Bad HURT! Then you can organize a STRIKE!

OK, let's say we DO strike. Anybody considered the fallout from such an action? Most fuel stations will run out of gas within a day or two. Grocery stores will run out of food within three or four days. What little industry left in this country will shut down, putting more people out of work, and encouraging more manufacturing companies to move their operations down south or overseas. Drivers will find themselves out of jobs as companies take the opportunity to shed higher paid drivers for younger, lower paid drivers. Not too mention what the guberment will do to us. I do not look good in orange. There has to be a better way.

The right Threats from the right Companies and Driver Associations will work far better!!! But getting that together is the PROBLEM!!!!
-
Then maybe we all need to set an affirmitive date, make it actually heard on tv make it heard on the stereo. in the news papers, put up banners with the date and time, maybe, just maybe if the word was out to EVERYONE
-
I mean everyone with the date and time maybe it could happen, just talking about it here means nothing, Can we all agree on a date and time?? and to agree to get the word out on time to everyone?? everywhere?? does anyone agree here??

We had the chance back in the 70's and it didn't work. Today it would be IMPOSSIBLE. Never ever going to see a large scale strike ever.

I think everyone is going about it the wrong way. It is not reasonable to expect to shut down the whole country, even though that would be an excellent wake up call. Instead I think that a very vocal and well covered by the media group should pick a certain location or area, with a specific reason, and SAY that there will be a boycott or embargo. Have you ever been in an eastern city grocery store when they are calling for a big snow? People go nuts. Before they finally changed the speed laws in Ohio and now Illinois, I thought that say Columbus or Springfield might be good targets. With the right media coverage, it would not really matter if even a large percentage of drivers participated. But of course now this would probably be considered domestic terrorism.
