So, another screwy load. Picked up in the Columbus, OH yard. Load was late already, missed appointment.
Drove it to the yard in Macungie, PA, 26 miles from final.
Still no appointment.
Decided to munch on some homemade beef jerky that my 10-year-old niece made for me as a little 'lemonade stand' style business arrangement with her.
Mold in the jerkey. I was worried about it when I first got the jerkey, because it seemed a bit too moist.
It lasted about 5 weeks, (and she is 10) so I will not complain to her, though i will insist on drying it more next time.
The problem is that I am stuck under load with no food in the truck because I thought I had food.
If I bobtail out to shop, you know full well that dispatch will give me a hurry-up-your-late-to-something-we-didn't-tell-you-about call.
I will check to see if there is some nearby food delivery that is open, but I do not have high hopes.
If no news on a delivery or new load in an hour, I will drop trailer and bobtail to get food. If someone has an issue with that, they can bite me. -
I can’t believe they question what you do . Your sitting very near receiver with no appt.......
TokyoJoe, spyder7723, Opendeckin and 1 other person Thank this. -
What I WANT is to be told to drop this load and go get another.
But like the song says...
Cat sdp Thanks this. -
Well, I ended up dropping 3 out of 5 loads in Crete yards last week as shippers and receivers and load issues caused lots of fail. Crap week in miles, around 2800 paid miles.
This week was looking better, since I was getting back into drop and hook chocolate customers...
BUT I got in line for a washout at the Carlisle, PA Blue beacon, and there were 9 trucks in front of me in the dedicated washout lane. 4 of them were apparently used to haul loose potatoes, because it took them 30 minutes a pop to clean them out. Ended up sitting 3.5 hours.
Picked up a load, drove a bit, next day, I drove a short day, only around 500 miles, to get back on a day driving schedule, and this morning, I do an inspection at 0600, and find the RRO trailer tire is missing half it's tread.
The Petro in Brazil, IN, didn't have a tire tech available until 0800 local.
They appear to be nearly done now.
Trying to get onto and stay on a day schedule is proving to be more than a little irritating this month.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
Tropsnart, spyder7723 and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

I tried to get a tire changed in Austinburg, Ohio at the boss shop a couple months ago and "The Tech" tells me they dont have a Jack that can lift a loaded trailer... LMFAO
SOB just didn't wanna do any work.Opus and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Sometimes. A 20 ton jack isn't available. For whatever reason.
On another note. Gonna be tough to pay the Bills for a few months. For just about everyoneFarmerbob1 Thanks this. -
Opus, spyder7723 and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

I didn't ask why no tech was available. That wouldn't make them available faster.
Road call? Techs calling out sick? Dunno. Didn't really care. Pushing too hard in a situation like that can easily make your service time longer, not shorter.
