Lettuce could have been loaded with chill damage. If the receiver only rejected part of the load it’s much more likely that your load had different lots and they rejected a lot. Review your bol carefully, usually lot numbers are referenced and noted. If they rejected only a specific lot, it was the lot and not the truck.

Second, call PACA 800-495-7222 x3. Send them the USDA report if something is placed on consignment and USDA is obtained there is a fiduciary responsibility on behalf of the said owner of product to sell at close to market less. Go to the USDA website look up the mostly markets value for that week, less % damaged. They can advise you on how to read report and how it should have been handled.

Third figure out who hired tql, was this an fob load or delivered. Call both nicely, get the accounting person... explain super super nicely, you hauled a load and you need some info, that the broker is maybe committing fraud and your just looking to find out who hired tql and who has been paid for what. You will get good info being sweet and nice.

lastly get in touch with The Blue Book. Bluebookservices.com ask them how to file a claim. They try to mediate fairly.

You might want to check, if they are holding moneys back on previous loads that have nothing to do with this claim, contacting the shipper and receiver and sending them a letter might get you paid. Depending on the receiver they probably won’t want to a hassle of yiu filing against them to be paid.
