I pulled Tankers for Schneider back in 96/97. The management # the Houston terminal was VERY ADVERSARIAL and HOSTILE in it's dealings with drivers. If you like to be treated like a criminal or an idiot, Schneider may be a fine place to work. If you are just getting started in the industry, the training there was very good. It can be a good place to start a new career. After you get enough experience to get hired elsewhere, jump off and go work where you may get treated with dignity and respect.

I hired on with Schneider bulk division in May 2009. The training was great but i am not into the OTR driving. I ended up doing about 6 weeks otr and then they were lookin for some lcal people where you could be home every night so I jumped on that. The work is ok but the pay is not the greatest. Its hard to bring home 600 per week, but I am home every night and weekends off. All in all i would say Schneider is pretty decent and a decent place to get some experience and move on. No one bothers me or tells me how to do my run or which road to take etc. They give me my assignment tell me what time it has to be delivered and i go do it.

I am one of those individuals who is highly critical of trucking companies. I have heard many good things from schneider drivers (and not recruits, actual friends) and they are happy where they are. You dont here that often. This leads me to believe that Schneider is a good opportunity for drivers. DR5169 might be getting a $600 check weekly but hes home with his family everyday and i personally cant put a price on that.

I was hired right out of cdl school( May 2009) in the chicagoland area...they dont advertise it on their website but if yu call a recruiter that should get the ball rolling.

I drove Otr for about 6 weeks and I did not like it at all cuz yu only get 6 days off per month. When the local position opened i was elated. Wish the money were better( briinging home in the 500 - 550 range) But yu are correct there is no price to being home every day. Even if i could bring home 800 every week otr i will still stay local/regional . So right now i am just trying to get some experience and move onto something better.

I just pass my road test thanks to my school Smith and Solomon. now im waiting Monday morning to call my recruiter up im also highly interested in joining Schneider Tanker division. last thing though I did recall my recruiter told me is tankers get paid more by the mile then the dry vans. so this my next stop as well in the Schneider Tanker division. also I thought the 6 preferred days off of the month would be convenient for all OTR drivers I don't believe the regular dry vans gets that option. isn't that more of a privilege at least I thought.
