I think the big problem is that trucking companies are allowed to pay gimmicky wages like cpm & percentage to company employees... if they had to pay hourly or salary + OT after 40 like most other companies, wages would've kept up with inflation a lot better than they have...

It seems they don't get too many Northeast folks anymore cause pay has stagnated, so now it's moved to Southerners & Westerners who $900/week is still a lot for. A different recruiter, when I said I need at least $1200/week and that companies were offering it drew in air and was like, "wow that's a really good deal how'd you get that?!?".

They *got* to eliminate cpm and % pay and mandate overtime after 40 in this industry... pay is just gonna keep stagnating...

But whatever, I'm looking more local anyway, I can't stand the thought of going back to cpm, I'd rather get paid to unload and load and not hafta worry about churning out 400-500miles a day, I hate sitting on my butt! Maybe some folks are just better at the OTR thing and can crank out 600 a day?!?

Definitely I need to find a niche...

We pay hourly and pay OT after 8 hours. We'll easily break six figures once we top out at $27/hour. Not a fan of CPM unless it gets mixed with hourly in case you break down or have to wait .

No way would I ever go back to salary. That was one of the worst gigs I've ever worked.

Funny how we are essential and all those nice things were said, but no one even considered removing the federal exemption from paying us OT or fixing HOS beyond temporary lifting because they need more work out of us right now.

Yep, and with hazmat that is easier. Those round tanks handle a lot better in the wind and the customers are mostly happy to see you.

I’m in affordable Indiana and the days of $400 month rent are gone, even for a one bedroom. Well, you can find them but they’re ghetto #### holes. I’m in a decent 3 bedroom now, not super fancy but not bad either, and rent is $1200 a month. Had a 2 bedroom before this for $1,000. The little one bedroom bachelor pad I had back in 07-08 was $375 then. It’s like $550 now. Housing prices are good though. You can get a 3 bedroom house in a decent area for well under 200k.

Thats how my company is. Im in the northeast. Not the best pay but I pay $25 a week for family health coverage, $5200 deductible but only $2600 technically for one person on the plan. Free dental and Vision. Cant beat the benefits.
