Can anyone post a list of states that are self issue for permits. I know a few but, Im kinda running out of my normal area. I have a load from Outside of Columbus OH to Detroit Mi. Im supposed to pick up Monday morning and deliver Monday afternoon. But, I didn't book it until about 3 this afternoon and totally forgot to order permits.

Nothing crazy dimensions wise. Ill be 11'10 wide and 13'7 high so won't need escorts or anything like that.

Do Ohio and Michigan have quick turnaround times for issuing permits?

I get OH and MI permits back in a matter of minutes if they have to go in for review and that's at 15-11W X 102L X 13-9H so you should be fine. Now with that being said, I permit the same loads with the same dimensions every week so they are used to seeing these come through.

Yeah I won’t worry about frost laws. I never understood them or tried to since I don’t run up there much and load I’m picking up is only 1700 lbs, some kind of tank

Unfortunately when frost laws are in effect it's not just weight, it's also width. You can be 45k and just wide and still not get permits. They don't want trucks running on the shoulders during spring thaw. I don't remember the width because we permit 15-11 wide which is way over the limit. Not heavy, just wide, tall and long.
