Last week i was told about 30% of the fleet is staying home. As you said, it helps in this low volume time. Once you acct for lower fuel prices im not finding rates as horrendous as i hear guys talking or see posted in places. Im staying busy but my attitude is that this time is about paying the bills and putting food on the table and im doing a heck of a lot better than so many who cant work at all right now.

I'm coming over in about 8 weeks with a paid off 2016 International Prostar with a midroof and manufacturers warranty. Plan to use Mercers trailer lease program to get an all aluminum 48' flat if its available and stay out about a month at a time before going home for a few days to recharge. Got my fingers crossed on making such a big purchase and being an O/O for the first time. I hope that having low overhead, staying out weeks at a time, and learning as much as possible will get me over the dangerous learning curve to run a successful business.

Wouldn’t worry about the weight too much. I have a combo step and can count on one hand the times I hauled over 35k last year. Heavy doesn’t pay for me to haul, maybe for others it’s different

That's encouraging to hear because I haul near 48k now on about 60% of my loads.

$15k a month on 12k miles isn't any good. $15k a month on 8k miles is profit. Just keep that in mind.
