Hiring Process / What to Expect
Once you apply online, your resume will be reviewed by our HR team. From there, a telephone interview will be scheduled. If your phone interview with HR is a success, you will then be invited to a first round of in-person interviews with hiring managers and other staff, depending on the position. Finally, a second round of interviews will be scheduled with other members of the leadership team. If we have a mutual interest, a pre-employment drug screen will be scheduled. The process takes around a month to complete.

They paint them bright yellow so you know to stay away from them.

There are several staffing companies in Nashville that might find you work also. Nice to have other people looking for you. Don't have to stay there, but they might help you initially. I have been with Trillium since November of 2018. Not a bad company. Lots of local stuff.

I don't know if they are hiring newbies for pickup &delivery or city drivers. I know Averitt hires newbies and send them to "finishing school" in Cookeville. Anyone interested in any Averitt jobs can call 800-Averitt or Google them. My dad, my brother, and I worked for them. It's a good company for some drivers. YMMV

I've checked with Averitt frequently this year both over the phone and on their website and have yet to find a job that didn't require at least four months of experience.

I should add that I'm in Georgia but often check not only the jobs Averitt lists for Georgia but also the surrounding states, including Tennessee as well.

I'm in the NW GA area, and you could say I haven't been working in the sense that I haven't had a CDL job yet. (I've mostly just been doing temp factory work this year). However, I'm wasn't complaining, as I have had a few OTR offers and could probably still take at least the offer from one or two of those companies if I wanted. I was only commenting on Averitt, since it was mentioned in the thread about possibly having trainee positions, but that's one company in particular for which I've found no trainee positions all year whenever I've looked.

I had been a little wary of doing OTR with all the uncertainty and problems related to the virus, but I know I may have to go OTR for a while if I want a job in this industry at all and in order to get to a local or LTL job later on. I applied with or at least looked at several LTL carriers earlier this year, but I've considered local jobs more, lately and have recently put in an app with Southeastern Freight Lines. I think I applied for maybe two local jobs besides that several weeks while back, one for XPO Logistics and one for NOTS Logistics.
