Yes, excuse me for using a term that the non-ups layperson might not understand. "Package car" is basically the delivery van that small pack (regular UPS) uses to deliver packages.

But let me tell you something about package car; This is one of the most stressful gigs period. i'm not talking about just in the delivery industry, i'm talking about ALL jobs. Think about pulling someone over at night as a rookie or even experienced cop? It's right up there if not more stressful. Daytrader on the stock floor? Underwater welding?

That's why i would rather do food and/or beverage in the hot sun all day vs. package car. Yes, it IS that bad.

And you wonder why there have been several shoot 'em ups at ups facilities in the past few years? (not freight though)

BOTTOM LINE: PACKAGE CAR, NOT A GOOD GIG.

Let's put it this way: i wouldn't work for small pack doing drop and hook feeder tractor trailer.

There's just something about small pack, can't describe it in words.

$40 an hour for day work, I guess it depends on ones perspective whether it’s a good job or not. Most of the package car drivers who deliver in my neighborhood have 25-30 years in. If it were as bad as you think it is they would have moved to Feeders.

Let me clarify: The tractor-trailer gigs at small pack might be good for some/many/most people, but not for me personally.

In other words, the tractor trailer gig at small pack might be ok, i just wouldn't work at small pack doing any job because i find the atmosphere weird in a bad way. To me it feels like you're detached from reality or something.

TTR Official. Everyone (all 10 of us) are coming back full time next week. Despite everything going on, our freight volume tripled in the last two weeks.

Small pack is sweet as long as you're at a good terminal. I fear Rabbit has experienced a terminal like the Flint, MI, terminal where everyone is miserable.

Me? I love it. Best job I've ever had.
