Cracking rubber air lines... is there a way to fix?

As you can see below, I got some cracks occurring on my air line. This is the cab to trailer red side air supply going to the trailer. This is the part right before the gladhand. It’s the velvac brand and I only bought them about 2 years ago tops... for about $200 for the 3 in one bundle.

Anybody know of a way to fix this? Can you fix this with a hose splitter/coupler kit? Or are those only for plastic? You can see there’s only one crack just past the springs that’s a little iffy. Or do I just buy a whole new set and do the install again.

PS I think the weight is causing these cracks? I got the lines held up with 2 springs where I won’t touch the catwalk. So must of the pressure of weight is relieved, but there’s some still on it too of course.

If it's cracked there it's probably cracked or will crack other places. Replacement.

I don't think the weight is causing them to crack, more likely UV rays, they're real tough on rubber. You'll likely need to replace them before the man sees them, sucks I know. There's various UV protectant sprays that'll help prevent this, or at least prolong their life...

 

I’d just replace them.

 

That’s why I use cheaper plastic coils. They will get discolored before they crack. But I agree, rubber ones look neater.

Its best to replace them but if the hoses are long enough you can cut off the cracked end and take the pinch inside the end of hose and slide it on the cut off end then tighten it up?

 

All you have to do, is take the fitting apart, cut the dry cracked part off, and re install, using a new compression Ferrell. Keep a couple extras, in case it ever happens again.
