So I have a question, mostly every big truck company is on some kind of device or driver monitoring software. That software scores "hard breaks", "hard turns", "speeding" etc etc.
The company I work for, they give us 4 miles over the posted speed limit leeway and then the electric baby sitter starts logging you as a speeder. Now the old system we had the posted speed limit didn't so much matter as it was are you going over the trucks governor.
I get passed up all day and night by everyone. So my question is for you guys who work for some of the faster companies, do you dinged for going over the posted speed limit or do you get dinged for going over the trucks governor?
How does your company monitor driving?

SAIA uses the Lytx system. The camera system in the truck is programmed for parameters such as G-Force, lane drifting frequency via Bendix measurements, camera system that grabs speed limit signs and forward radar to measure following distance.
The rule that drivers in my barn seem to agree on, is that you can go over the posted limit by 8-9 mph before the Lytx system will begin tagging video and sending it off for review, however, the company speed limit max is 70mph, over that and you get a paddling as well.
Funny you bring this up, I got bagged for doing 40 in a 25 the other day. Except, the camera didn't register the 35mph sign that I passed as well. It must have been a relatively new change in speed limit, because Lytx supposedly "verifies" speed limits for roads against a database of some kind and pushed through the "coachable behavior". -
Landstar has no such tracking.
And if I pass you, there's a good chance you are on break, at a shipper or receiver, or your truck is in some manner disabled.alds, speedyk, Bob Dobalina and 4 others Thank this. -

I see, Estes 55 miles per hour isn't the same as Werner's 55 miles per hour which isn't the same as Saia's 55 miles per hour.alds, Lumper Humper, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -

USF Holland. We don't use DFC but the equipment we have monitors speed, following distance, sudden changes in speeds and running stop signs.
Less than 1/3 of our fleet is equipped with this technology. We have a quarterly meeting to discuss things that went wrong if you drove a truck that logged your bad behavior
Personal opinion. This is just more micromanaging. It's like yelling at your geese for squawking to loudly when they lay their golden eggs. -
