Your right P&d is another route to go that might be a lil less hardcore on the body and can help you get into shape. When I was at Reddaway we had a big guy lose weight doing the same job.
People that get scared of Foodservice are the same people who think parking at the back of the Truckstop and walking to the store is plenty of exercise.
It all depends on job availability too. Generally Foodservice hires in all areas and the company needs bodies and looks past experience to where LTL P&d job is pretty covenant especially with the popularity over the years might be hard to come by in the OP’s area. My area you can land a LTL P&d job pretty easily out the gate but his area might be different. I would try LTL P&d first if you can.

1) Afterwards, go to a good truck driving school, then apply for food service or soda delivery, (Coca-Cola, Pepsi, 7-Up). These LTL jobs are full time & all year around. They will also continue to keep you in shape.
2) Also, dairy delivery as Hiland Dairy, Oak Farms Dairy, Hood, Sealtest, Borden's, etc., deliver crates of milk to both warehouses and retail stores, (supermarkets, Walmart, Sam's Club, etc.). These LTL jobs will also keep you in shape.
