Or...you could spend that time doing the practice tests here on TTR etc...

If you’ve already done that I apologize.

no need to apologize for a good suggestion. But yes I've been going through the Texas CDL handbook and practice tests on a regular basis

Don't worry about it. I walked into the DMV to get the booklet to study. Once there, I figured, what they heck? I'll take the test just to look at it. I walked out with my learners permit.
I joked with them that it had been 40 years since I had a learners permit.

The only test I've had any trouble with is Hazmat. Gotta study that.

    Well.

While my load appointment was 1600 yesterday, I arrived at 1400, they sat for an hour waiting on the 1500 guy, who never showed while I was there, I was loaded an hour early.

    Then, it fell apart.
Broker sent a text, they need that load ASAP, don’t arrive at the noon appointment, just get it there as fast as you can.
So... after driving straight through the night, and arriving here looking like someone who was up all day yesterday and last night.. no one will pickup Theo AIphone to open the gate for this much needed product or they’re going to have to shut the plant down.

My new thought, forget it, I’ll pull back up to the gate for my noon.

    :laughing-guffaw:That's par for the course!
Heard that before. I arrived 2am. Nobody to receive it. I parked there and went to sleep. Dispatch woke me up at 8 with phone call. Why do they always have to do that? I need my beauty rest. I figured if they needed it that bad. When they showed up. they'd knock on my door. Nope... I went inside. Guy is all upset it wasn't here yesterday. I told him this was a favor to my favorite Manager/Operations dispatch. Got it here as fast as I could. Here at 2am. That's all I know. He kept saying: But! Yesterday! .... I almost told him; Scotty hasn't gotten the transporter fixed yet.

First off. You might learn the CDL in Texas. Yet unless your moving to Texas amd your license iis in Florida? Your going to be given a bus ticket home and they will ask that you come back in two weeks. The reason being you will get a temporary license from the school. They will then expect you to go home to place of residence and get your license in the state you are licensed.

In other news I have finally landed a job driving. $22 an hour. Work starts at 3pm driving with in the 150 air miles. They lump most of the looads, yet if I am to load any it will be by pallet jack or forklift. I explained to them that I only need 5 months to be able to drive for @Dave_in_AZ. Yet if they treat me well? I will stay with them. Its funny. The job description says 10 years driven required. When I asked about it, they said that is personal vehicle. LOL
