Failed physical today. Blood pressure reading 258/123. What now?

    It won't help enough, I quit smoking, quit drinking, and cut back to 1 cup of coffee a day. Didn't even put a dent in it, when it is that high the only cure is meds.

    A good med for high BP is Lisinopril. It cost $10 or so a month a WM but you need a prescription for it. Those numbers need to come down quick.

    Thanks guys. I went to CVS and tried their blood pressure machine next to the pharmacy and the numbers are accurate.

    I just don't understand how this happened. My family doesn't even have a history of high blood pressure.

    Trying to schedule a doctors visit but everyone is closed because of labor day.

    sigh......

    If your BP was that high, I’m surprised they didn’t try to get you to go to the emergency room

    I'm not trying to scare you but you need to go to the emergency room now. Get some BP meds in you. I'm talking from experience. I ignored it and ended up in the ER with a heart attack.

    Duh not at that level. All I know if I was op and thought that reading was correct I'd be at the er and not asking bunch of truckers

    This is the best advice yet.
    OP... You're having a medical emergency right now if your BP is that high. You need help now.
    Get your butt down to the ER or a docs-in-a-box and get some meds.
    They''ll probably refer you to a cardiologist. Go.

    And no, I'm not a doctor but my wife was for over fifty years and I've heard her give people the same advice.
