Has anyone ever attempted to be an owner op and failed at it ? I’ve tried it before I had my own authority with old equipment 10k truck 10k reefer trailer.I had a lot of maintenance issues from the start so it didn’t last long maybe a year.so I’ve been a company driver for a 4yrs now and I’m getting the feeling to step out again.Should I just step out there again? This time I have the capital and credit to get good equipment.help me out please no trolling.

I’m all about starting with inexpensive equipment but, a $10k reefer sounds like a death notice?
Van or flatbed yes, but cant imagine much good comes from a cheap reefer.ibcalm19, Dino soar, Brettj3876 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Only way I would ever pull reefer is if it was company/contract freight. I can't imagine reefer as an O/O. Sounds like a recipe for never sleeping nights and learning where every lousy and slow food DC is in the nation. Just get yourself a cheap van and get rolling. Heck, you can make an easy 1.25 a mile or so in this day and age. Go get em, tiger!

Thomas Edison and the Wright Brothers failed on their first attempts as well...

Yes, it happened with me in late '90's as I registered my business name & bough a older 'Pete'. Unfortunately, I was fairly new understanding O/O had my own Authority but understanding the aspects of the business was a challenge. Did a few loads whiles I didn't receive proper payment for one then had a major breakdown without a significant reserve had to close shop. It was a learning experience but that was over 2 decades ago. I'm planning on becoming a O/O again but trying to wait out this covid19 situation as well as selling one of my houses. I have enough of a down payment for a 'New' truck (less headaches & issues) as well as a reasonable reserve. Much older & wiser with my wife also encouraging me too. Once things balance out in the North American economy I will be ready.
feldsforever and Lite bug Thank this.
