Hello, I'm considering buying my first truck which is a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia DD15 with 500k on it. Asking $29,500. Planning on using the truck to haul bulk pneumatic tankers after I get a blower installed. The isle off delete seems to be a good sign as it could mean the truck hasn't spent much time idling.
Haven't run the vin# so not much is known about it. Test drive it this morning and everything ran nice and good I have pictures as well as around $6300 worth of work they've put into it. No leaks from what I could see. Gauge pics during cold start as well after an hour of running and a 50 mile drive.

cold just started.. Oil pressure high. after an hour of running, 50 mile drive and back to the shop idling. Seems awful low Oil pressure but I don't know much about this engine.

Oil pressure looks correct. with that many miles you should keep an eye on the oil pressure. If you see it jumping around then the o-rings on the oil pickup tubes in the oil pan will need changing.
Unless they already did that.stwik, 401-Alex and Stockjunkee84 Thank this. -
Imo, go find yourself a 1999 or older truck that hasn't got all the emissions on it, plus, you could run paper logs. That 2013 cascadia with half a million miles is about ready to require alot of money to be put into, especially the emissions system. Seems like 500,000 miles is when everybody gets rid of the newer trucks these days.
rollin coal, Stockjunkee84, feldsforever and 1 other person Thank this. -
They've had it done already.
One thing I noticed is that the EGR actuator is moving every few seconds causing the engine to rev. Not sure if this is normal. Was less after warm up but still did it. -
I'd like to find something with a 12.7l 60 series and a 13 speed. But gliders are expensive and a lot of older Columbia's around here I've seen have 1.3 million on them and worry they're too wore out. But I agree that older is better. Kinda hard for any emission system to cause problems when it don't exist on the engine.blairandgretchen and rachi Thank this. -
Might include in price, but will save in headaches later.Stockjunkee84 and feldsforever Thank this. -

I just bought a 16 Cascadia last month with 519k, got 535k no problems, you just gotta inspect it and look for the bad, not the good about it.
I’d rather have this than a gliderStockjunkee84 and feldsforever Thank this. -
