Onguard is a good name for it. I'm usually "ongaurd" for a screwup if I'm on cruise..
It does put the binders on much harder than is needed most of the time not enough for a skid maybe but too hard. I've pretty much quit using the cruise on my truck for that reason. Ongaurd is the biggest waste I've ever seen installed on a truck. The only benifit I see is that in heavy fog it will let you know if there's anything up ahead in the soup that you can't see.

I know I have a cloud over my head...but I don't mind that, it's the lightning bolts that keep zapping my butt that gets my feathers ruffled.

I heard the service manager say to Crete(while he was getting a PO # because Meritor denied the warranty claim) 'maybe it was driven with the diff lock engaged'...Dude, that's what I said it felt like, but was the 1st thing I double checked to make sure it wasn't. In fact on the writeup I specifically said, 'acts like diff lock is engaged when switch is in -unlocked- position' And I was giving this guy the benefit of the doubt for taking 1 1/2 days to drop 1 diff and check it...it took them the other 1 day to check the other. This thing still has a deep 'sub woofer' like vibration to it that wasn't there before it started blowing oil. It hit's you in the seat cushion, and it aint a tire balance vibration...I know that feeling too well with this truck... I've had bad tire vibrations from day 1.

But they had me pull a load from the Tifton yard to the Alachua Dollar General(which is 10 mi from home), even gave me auth to drop a day early...but in typical Snackbar type luck, the drop number doesn't appear on any of the guards list's, live unload or drop. And he has lists through the weekend into Monday morning. After getting into a verbal (qualcom) message barrage with dispatch... I told them, the load is going home with me, solve the problem, and call me....Then I'll deliver, if I'm home...I have oodles of things to do, I don't have time for another paperwork snafu brought to you by the fine folks in High Command. I've been doing this job for over 15 years. Crete is my 5th company...many of the others picked up and delivered to the same places we go to now...but didn't seem to have nearly as many problems getting the appointments coordinated as they do in Lincoln. And some of the companies were much larger than Crete, so sized -:biggrin_25524:in this case:biggrin_25524:- doesn't matter. In fact, a year's worth of problems here exceed the total number of problems I've had a some of my previous employers, for the entire duration of my employment.

Good idea, I'll call them Monday.
I didn't go in a skid because the pavement was dry and we have anti-lock brakes. It applied the brakes 100%, I've never braked that hard before.
Basically it put me out of control of the truck, once I got past the 10mph 4 wheeler it released the brakes. I wasn't even close to hitting it,unless it jumped in my lane. And if a car passes me and 1/4 mile later wants to hit the shoulder, when the left lane is full besides me....
I wouldn't care if it only braked with the cruise on, I can control that.
Welp, it's party time, gonna see Capitolism:biggrin_255:

Am I to understand that Crete has all these electronic safety bells and whistles? The company I trained with had that stuff. The passenger side detectors were especially annoying - trees, guardrails, vehicles being passed, EVERYTHING would set it off.

I am sure the companies selling this junk have nice charts, and lots of statistics to show what a great job these products do. Frankly, I find them more distracting than driving while sending a text, eating a chicken leg, and reaching in the cooler for a drink.

What's really cool is how it cuts your speed becuz the front sensor thinks you are following too closely - just as you are getting ready to start climbing a hill. Ingenious.

    Frigging bull crap.

Dude - you really crack me up! You need to go to a Company that has less than 1000 trucks and hires no one with less than 5-years experience.

It appears Crete is becoming a glorified training company.

Stick with HVAC. Once you drive a truck, you will never look at the truck or the sad sack behind the wheel the same.

    You might wish... LOL Nope!

As far as Crete being a training company, you couldn't be more wrong. Even though I wasn't hired. Not my fault... I choose safety over stupidity. I still consider Crete to be one of the better companies out there. And yes, I DID do my homework and research on my selection of carriers.
