That's just sad in the current market. Not bad when the spot market is running below $2 per mile, but now it's really bad.

Myself when I stop the first thing I do is walk around the truck look at the truck look under the truck do I smell anything funny does anything look funny are the lights working are the tires good- is there anything anywhere that does not look right or that is a potential problem.
I'm lucky because my truck looks nice when it's washed but even when it's dirty it's a color that it just looks like a working truck it doesn't look like a filthy piece of junk.
But I always will be greasing the truck checking oils fixing little repairs or any of that kind of thing well before I actually wash it. I want everything mechanically 100% correct. But I do make sure the windows and windshields and mirrors are clean.
I'm not on the road as much as some of you guys, I tend to be more local. I wash the truck whenever I can but I'm probably closer to what Joe does.
I do tend to clean the inside alot more, but I am amazed?/ disturbed?/ confused?/ by those guys that have snow white plush carpeting in their trucks and they drive barefoot. ???
I'm not saying that's good or bad, my mind just can't comprehend it.
I'm like the Lost in Space robot...
That does not compute.Truckermania, Dale thompson, PPLC and 2 others Thank this. -
Well, I guess I better get out the door and go to work. Got a 5 hour day ahead of me. That's okay, I've got all weekend to recover.
Midwest Trucker, PPLC, Long FLD and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’ve been hauling cubes and doing ranch deliveries all week. I’m confused if I’m allowed to wash my truck this afternoon or not. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time behind me because it was just washed last Friday and now I’ve heard there’s not enough margin in trucking to pay for weekly washes. I am not sure what to do, please help.

I think the niche for me is LTL. I delivered a 250 mile load for $700. Ready for this? 1 piece (not pallet) of construction related, that weighed 100 lbs.
PPLC, Farmerbob1 and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
As stated, it was a shorthaul van work day & week here in Central Point, OR
Got home around noon and guess who was here? That's right, some of my grandkids.
One of the twins was agitated about something and was crying. You know what, I didn't say BYE...CLICK...
I asked her if she wanted to help ole gramps scan some paperwork on the printer. She cheered right up
Now it's time for a long nice weekend here at home.
Heard my wife say she's got some carne asada tacos in store for dinner. Oh the life of a shorthaul van owner operator in southern Oregon is so nice!Last edited: Oct 9, 2020
