If I couldn't pull a tanker, I'd go back to being a meat clerk in a supermarket.

My waiting record is 30 hours waiting to unload palm oil. They never told me what was going on, but after the first two hours I get $18/hr detention anyway. It doesn't bother me; it's all part of trucking.

I carry food and water with me in the truck. I have provisions to take care of "bodily functions" if the need should arise.

Such long delays are rare. I'm in and out of most shippers and receivers in an hour or less.

Just got my settlement, no detention for that load. I essentially babysat that load for 36hrs completely free.

I'm the walking type, not the talking type. Looking to make a jump to chemical tanker. Preferably OTR cryogenic if possible.

OTR tanker would be nice. I run the northeast, our terminal is near Pittsburgh PA, but all we do is run out loaded and come back empty. I'd like to wash out and get a load coming back, but I have yet to do that with liquid. We run bulk tanks south of Richmond, wash out and bring cement back out of Chesapeake, but that run sucks lol

Most cryo tankers I've seen in my travels were hooked to day cabs. An out and back run is fine if you are trying to get home everyday but that won't suit me.

I recently saw a Genox sleeper truck hauling cryo, but it appears they are all O/O or lease ops and that doesn't appeal at all.

I talked to Airgas awhile back. They had all daycabs, but the guy said they don't always come home every night.

I didn't ask, but they probably have some motel runs.

Either that, or you gotta go help another terminal for a week or two, and end up living in a motel room for the duration.

Sorry to hear about the beating you just took on that load. It's effin disgraceful.

True OTR is what would suit me best now. Sell the house and car and just live in a truck saving money until retirement.

Plenty of drivers out there with families that need them home. Let them have the local jobs.
