I have also read all 23 pages and cc194217 has went out of his way to help everyone here. Remember how many problems windows vista had when it came out? It is a work in progress and it is a tool to help us and I believe in time it will. We just gotta get the bugs worked out as with any new product. I have been having trouble deciding which unit to get and this has helped a lot.
Thanks!

Might I suggest that you google dieselboss out of Oregon, he sells navigation units to include RM's TND 500. Talk to him, he will answer any questions you have of any units... he also posts the reviews of navigation units on his webpage. RM is still waiting on our review. Hopefully this week.
Thanks,
Mark -
If you have an actual unit, and you find that the upper right hand button (usually the back button) is not responding correctly, simply go to main menu, preferences, device settings, then scroll down to align screen, tap on that and then on right hand side of screen tap on align screen again. Follow the steps, this should correct the back button.
Thanks,
Mark -
Clearly RM - as well as other GPS outfits - should keep their units off the market until they are fully tested and debugged, notwithstanding replies from Mark whose pecuniary interest in Rand McNally's economic wellbeing is overwhelming.FriedTater Thanks this. -
Your car, phone, house, tv, and all other items you use have bugs.. shall we keep them off the market? Your truck has recalls,,, ah..bugs... shall we take your truck from you?
ted, you really should wake up and realize that this not a perfect world...
BUT, At least RM is striving to make a better product. Why don't you actually buy a unit and then give us a solid review,, good and bad...
All I can say is those drivers out their who come to this forum with a question or issue,, they have a voice... what have you offered?
Thanks,
Mark -
Well heck, the operating system he is using has bugs.........if we all had to wait for a bug free OS from MS, we would probably still be using DOS!! There is a reason that your OS comes with a thing called "Windows Update", to fix the bugs. Internet Explorer has bugs, Firefox has bugs, Intel and AMD both had CPU's that had bugs, drivers have bugs, Windows 7 I'm sure will have bugs, Apple's OS has bugs (but they are to snobby to admit it). Your computer is full of bugs, stop using it now and return it immediately!!

wow, after reading this page by page and actually owning a 430 and the 465t, going through the cost (min 100.00) of updating and patching both of those units. and still finding problems without recourse to fix them (have since gotten rid of both of them) I find it very refreshing that within 24 hours of purchasing the tnd 500 they had posted an update to the system free of charge. and seem to be ready to listen to any other problems we may find. and from my understanding they will continue to post patchs and fixes to the database free of charge all we have to do is go download them.
And yet we still have to read posts from the few detractors that will give no details as to their problem just trash this unit.
Kudos to the beta testers and to RM for trying to get a product out, that with a little input from us might actually be the best gps ever to come out.xr7conv, Mark Kling, Dave 1960 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just also want to point out that any car GPS you use, Garmin, Magellan, Tom Tom, all have bugs also..........they all have had software version updates and of course map updates. None of them are perfect, so dont even think about using any of them. How about regular paper maps, they have bugs also, so get rid of those. So if people are truly concerned about buggy navigational devices, then I have a suggestion, you can always use a compass, sextant or just navigate by the stars. Columbus did it and found the New World, so it should work for you finding where your shipper is.
Mark Kling Thanks this. -
He does not have a truck.. was recalled due to bugs.... guess a backpack
