here it is again, where you said, HE SAID, he did a pre-trip....

    i call BS.

if they do not suspend him, then Estes has no self respect either.

I don't believe he's lying. This is his first week on a new route and he was in a hurry so he focused on the mechanical stuff. If he did this, then he did this and the chips will fall where they may (as they should). He will just have to deal with the fallout. Weird though that this could have happened and he could have no idea how. But I've never driven a truck myself. As I said, I don't believe he's lying to me. I'm not his boss and there would be no reason for him to lie to me or to be asking for opinions from other experienced folks like yourself if he was aware of how this happened - you are not all going to be speaking to his boss and neither am I lol.

He is supposed to have a long break at his hotel with this route and it didn't turn out that way today, so maybe it took some time for him to report the damage to his company. I'm going to speak to him some more about this tonight and I'll circle back when I know more. He was dead tired when he called me.

    he was "in a hurry"???

now, i wonder if he really even DID a pre-trip.

sorry, but to me, your his mother.>???

if he cannot be here himself............

i call BS on this entire story.

As I stated, my advice is going off the assumption that your son is telling the truth. It's irrelevant if he is or isn't since he is the only one that actually knows what happened. Don't feel obligated to convince us, it's Estes that he has to convince.

I have to side with some of the other drivers. That is a significant area of damage. If this is his assigned truck, he would have immediately caught it when he checked his lights. I am actually a bit puzzled how he didn't notice it. They probably won't fire him, but a reprimand for pencil whipping his pretrip is a certainty.

A lesson learned late is better than one learned never.

he didn't "notice it", cuz as she said, that HE said, he was "in a hurry".....

    negligence gets you every time.

and "hearsay" is just as bad, if not worse.

most "men" stand on thier own 2 feet and ask questions, not thier moms for them.

That looks like a bollard strike to me.

I've done it, and that's exactly what it looks like.

NO WAY he did that and "didn't know".

NO WAY he did a pre-trip and "missed" that. Sorry.

I hope he called the safety department before he called you.

Good luck to him, whatever the outcome.
    He may well get fired.

Sorry if this is dumb, are there normally bollards like what was shown along a highway? I've never noticed them but that means nothing.

Not on a highway. But they have them in fuel islands so you don't run over a gas pump. Hotels might also have them.

Nah. They are usually in parking lots, shippers, receivers, truck stops, etc. I agree it looks like a bollard strike. Whoever did it, definitely felt it.

100% bollard strike. Fairly common accident since they fall out of sight when you get close to them. Definitely don't say that someone backed into his truck during his 10 hours in the hotel. Nobody will believe that.
