Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

They have them on a rack right behind the passenger side fuel tank...but I guess I have to provide the bolt to keep the diamond plate cover from flapping.

 

I was thinking about doing the same thing so I don't have to compromise the door seal...guess I'll have to stop at Love's and get a new antenna and mount, and another piece of decent coax for my stock Uniden

 

880. If you like stock radios, cb shops can't adjust or tune the 880’s. It's been a pretty good radio. I've always had good luck with Uniden.

 

Upon 1st impressions of this new Cascadia.


The good side, cubbys everywhere. 12v plugs are plentiful, the fridge is much bigger than what I've had in the past (even bigger than Magnum's Pete). And all the cabinet latches are very un-Freightliner, and by that I mean, they latch without having to slam them, and they seem solid enough that they won't rattle for at least 150k miles of our failing roads....and it's most definitely gonna take some getting use to in the driving department. I feel like I am going from a smart-car to a 1-ton dually.


Now the bad. @Bumper noticed one of the things I dislike...no access to 3/4 of the under bunk from the outside. The drivers side sidebox is way too small for my outside stuff (blower, 5th wheel grease, oil, coolant, washer fluid, more washer fluid, even more washer fluid, my George Forman...) There is 1, two plug outlet for the inverter (none on the inverter itself), but it hangs out at the foot of the bunk, right under the drawer under the tv cabinet, so I hope I don't forget it's there and break it since the plugs stick out into the sleeper. There is only a small cubby where you would store your phone at night, and it's a smaller bed than what they use to be(maybe I haven't driven a Freightliner in so long, I forgot how small they normally are).

So, my dislikes are petty, like usual, and things have improved in the build quality department, at least it seems like it since I haven't put a single mile on it yet. Over all, I give it an eeeegh on the like it or not scale so far...that opinion may change, either way

 

It's official, with this new Cascadia, I am not driving a truck, I am playing a video game, with the volume of the sound effects turned up to almost ear piercing levels....and this DT12 transmission makes me want my mDrive back. I almost have to back with one foot on the throttle and one on the brake. If this is the best they have to offer for equipment, then I might be better off driving local in a daycab rock bucket or 20 yr old log truck.
